ACL Risk Prevention Program

The ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) is a ligament in the knee that mainly functional to provide knee joint stability.  Injury to this ligament can be very serious and often lead to surgical repair and  extensive rehabilitation.  Other than the costs occurred for medical care of this injury, an ACL injury can have significant effects on the athlete, including loss of participation in sport and increased risk of knee osteoarthritis in the future.  The ACL is most commonly injured in non-contact sporting activities involving sudden turning, jumping, planting, and/or pivoting.  Therefore, the risk for an ACL injury can be greatly reduced with proper training of these types of activities.  An ACL risk prevention program which addresses individualized needs of each athlete has been developed by licensed physical therapists at Creative Rehab.  This program not only aids in ACL injury prevention but helps enhance performance.  If you have questions or would like to request more information, please call the clinic at (847) 599-9171.
