Factors that Contribute to Gardening Injuries
• Poor posture and body mechanics
• Working beyond center of gravity
• General deconditioning
• Repetition / Load
• Impatience / Speed of work
Lifting Rules
1. Keep your back straight
2. Use your legs
3. Keep the weight close
4. Twist properly
Other “Rules” to Follow
1. Warm up prior to activity
2. Change positions frequently
3. Take rest breaks
4. State hydrated
5. Manage pain appropriately
